Donor Drive Matching Instructions

Universal MUST‑Match Requirements (All Manufacturers)

​

  • Full Model Number as printed on the label (include all characters, including any dash‑suffix). Examples: WD10SPZX-21Z10T0 (Western Digital), ST1000LM035 (Seagate), MQ01ABD100 (Toshiba), HTS545050A7E380 (Hitachi)

​

  • Drive Family (e.g., Charger, Rosewood, etc.)

​

  • Head Map (the patient’s physical head count/order must be compatible; donors may have equal or higher head count, but the mapping for used heads must match)

*Note: Head Maps and Preamp Identifiers are not on the label and must be read via tools (e.g., PC‑3000)

Western Digital

​

  • Full Model (with dash‑suffix): e.g., WD20EARX-22PASB0 — match exactly

​

  • DCM (Drive Configuration Matrix): e.g., DCM: HBNT2ABB. Locate the ‘J’ or ‘2’ near the end; match that character AND the preceding one — match exactly

​

  • Manufacture Date: Match within one year if possible

Seagate

​

  • Model: e.g., ST1000LM035 — match exactly.

​

  • Serial Number (SN): Pay attention to the first three characters of the Serial number (e.g., in Z4Y123ABC, the part that matters is Z4Y) — match exactly

  • Part Number (P/N): e.g., 1RK172-570. Prefer full P/N match; at minimum match the base block (e.g., 1RK172)

​

  • Preamp: MUST match (obtain via terminal/ROM)

​

  • Firmware (FW): e.g., EB01 / RSM4 — match when possible (secondary to P/N and preamp)

​

  • Site Code: e.g., TK / SU / WU — match when possible
